Goal: Students will draw conclusions and make predictions from a partially read text read aloud by the teacher.

What to do

Choose a text to read aloud to students and read only the ending (last chapter in a novel or last few pages in a picture book).
Have students identify the setting, characters (main and supporting), possible problems and solutions to the story.
This activity can be done orally in a large or small group, or you may have students write out their predictions or conclusions and then come together in small or large groups to discuss.
